Belize-Born Rapper Signs Seven-Figure Deal
CaribWorldNews, NEW YORK, NY, Thurs. Feb. 18, 2010: Belize-born rapper, Jamal Shyne Barrow, has signed a seven-figure deal with Def Jam records.
The former Bad Boy rapper and son of the Belize Prime Minister, Dean Barrow, reportedly opted to sign with L.A. Reid and Def Jam over Jimmy Iovine and Dr. Dre at Interscope.
Shyne is set to relocate to London for work on his forthcoming album.
Barrow was recently released from prison after serving more than nine years for a club shooting involving Sean `Diddy` Combs and Jennifer Lopez.
He was deported back to Belize in October, 2009.
Shyne has worked with Def Jam before and released his 2004 `Godfather: Buried Alive,` on the label.
